A training session on Human-Centred Disaster Response and Psychological First Aid was conducted for 30 Civil Defence volunteers at the Police Training School Goa. The session highlighted the increased risk of human trafficking and exploitation after disasters, when communities become more vulnerable.
Participants were trained to recognise early signs of distress and to provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) to affected individuals, ensuring that disaster response also prioritises protection and mental well-being.
The programme was supported by the Goa State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Goa Police, reinforcing the importance of integrating mental health and protection into disaster preparedness.
